If Our Blessed Mother and the adolescent Jesus were on earth today, she definitely would have, at some point, fixed him a Coke.  As chicks raised in the South, we both remember instances after injuries and illness when our mothers bandaged us up, sat us on the sofa, and handed us a Coke.  Only the 8 oz. bottle would do.  It sure did make everything alright.

Just the other day, we found ourselves doing the exact same thing with our daughters.  They were hot, hurt, and complaining, so we told them what any good Southern mothers would say- “Sit down and we’ll get you a Coke.”  It’s just what we do.  It probably was a mother who originally came up with that famous advertising slogan “Have a Coke and a Smile.”

It’s the real thing, Coke is.
