Sometime when you’re at home getting dinner ready- snapping the beans, peeling the potatoes, or pulling out the Whole Foods dinner combo, see if your local cable channel carries EWTN, the Eternal Word Television Network.  It is Catholic programming 24/7, and you can learn so much about the history of the Church, Church teaching, prayer, and scripture through some of its shows.

Some of the best spots are prime time shows like “The Journey Home” where Marcus Grodi, a former Presbyterian pastor, interviews men and women about their conversion journeys to becoming Catholic. With just a few simple introductory questions, Mr. Grodi likes to “get out of the way” and let the guests’ journeys speak for themselves.  During the show’s one hour run time, emails and phone calls come in from all over the country.  If you can easily travel to Irondale, Alabama outside Birmingham, you can contact EWTN in advance and reserve tickets to sit in on a live broadcast.

The Journey Home is just one aspect of Mr. Grodi’s evangelization efforts, as he also runs The Coming Home Network International, an apostolate designed to walk side by side with non-Catholic pastors and clergy who are feeling led by the Holy Spirit to become Catholic.  His work with non-Catholic Christians led him to publish a resource called Journeys Home, a fascinating compilation of adult conversion stories.  Although we tend to hear alot about “traffic” out of the Catholic Church, Mr. Grodi has spent much of his Catholic adult life highlighting the traffic coming into the Church.  For that we owe him a great debt of gratitude.

Our friends at Fallible Blogma are using the month of October to highlight Mr. Grodi and other dedicated Catholic speakers and bloggers.  Check out their  Support a Catholic Speaker month effort for more information and for great resources on faith and daily living.Support-Catholic-Speaker-Mo
