Lots of folks love Christmas and Easter, and I am one of them. But today I am reminded of how much I love Pentecost Sunday. The orange and red flowers behind the altar, the streams of red ribbon flowing from the processional crucifix, the readings at mass…oh the readings! A rush of the wind, tongues of fire, and speaking in different languages- does it get any better than this?! Just a few verses later in the book of Acts, the apostles get real bold, people convert, and the life of the Church begins. Somehow on Pentecost Sunday, I feel a little bolder as a witness, too.
To celebrate our birthday as a Church, I’m baking a cake. This chocolate pound cake from the Newnan, GA Junior League Cookbook is sure to delight. Be bold, do some baking, and proclaim Happy Birthday to us!
