The Southern Catholic Chicks

The Chicks are two friends who are truly Southern and recently Catholic.  Their primary vocations are wife and mother in their respective families.  Together they enjoy writing, studying their faith, making home movies, telling stories, and taking road trips with their kids.

Southern Catholic Chick “A” was raised in the Presbyterian church.  Several years ago she attended a Catholic silent retreat, and much to her surprise started questioning what she was “protesting” as a Protestant.  Thus began a journey which culminated in her reception into the Catholic Church.  When she is not reading or studying, Chick A spends her time volunteering at her children’s schools and taking care of her husband, daughters, and dog.  She takes her sweet tea with a lot of ice and a sprig of mint.

Southern Catholic Chick “B” was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal church and raised in a faithful Christian home.  Making a personal commitment to Christ early in her adult life, she got involved in Bible studies and other faith-related activities.  After some years of church-hopping in the evangelical world, she began to desire a return to liturgy and sacraments.  Unbeknownst to her, the Catholic silent retreat that she attended with Chick “A” would eventually lead to her reception into full communion with the Catholic Church.  In between the Chicks’ musings on Catholicism, Chick B is busy tending to her husband, children, and pets.  She takes her sweet tea with lots of lemon.
